Studio Viippola participates in Helsinki Design Week 2023 event by presenting a collection of everyday objects and textiles that bring joy to life.
The exhibition “Particularly mundane – a collection of products that bring joy to the everyday” and the studio’s open event is organized 13-16 September between 13-17 at Henrik Lättiläisen katu 13. The studio operates in Viikinmäki in a private house completed in 2019, designed by Janne Vesterinen and Irina Viippola.
The exhibition tells the story of a meaningful everyday life and gives you the opportunity to stop and think about what things bring you joy. Morning coffee. Friday sauna. A walk in the forest. Tidy home.
The venue is on the banks of the Vantaanjoki River and the surroundings are particularly green. Viikinmäki is a new residential area, the design of which was inspired by Italian stone towns.
In addition to visiting the exhibition, the visitor can get to know the surroundings of Viikinmäki: there is new architecture, a forest, a wonderful rapid and backwater area, the Museum of Technology, the birthplace of Helsinki, Arabia’s old factory area, and the pop-up cafe Matskusimo organized by designer Simo Puintila.
A few different walking routes have been planned for the event for visitors to explore and experience, the walking routes can be downloaded below (portrait A4). One of the maps is showing the architectural points of interest in the Viikinmäki area (landscape A4).
